Cloning Yourself Via Systems to Ensure Quality

Now and then, as I sit down to write my weekly blog, I’m overcome by writer’s block. With all that’s going on in my life just now, the old brain went into neutral again this past week—until I was copied on a note one of my client’s (not a printer) wrote to the CEO of the national chain through which he bought his franchise business.

If I was at all looking to promote MY business, I couldn't have said what you are about to read any better! Below is what my client wrote in his own words:

“I was one of the many franchise owners who had problems transferring my ideas into the field. Things were fine as long as I was personally overseeing a job, but as our company grew, I found day-to-day operations were more than I could handle.

“I began dropping balls everywhere and was completely exhausted, working 80 hours a week. No matter how hard I tried, I still couldn’t keep up with everything. It occurred to me, it would be great if I could CLONE about three of me, but until recently I’ve had trouble hiring anyone who showed real concern for quality or doing things consistently.

“Early one morning, I prayed for God to help me with my business. I explained that I was tired, and I didn’t know how to fix it. That very same day, I met Philip Beyer; and his wife, Susan, handed me his book ‘System Busters.’ It has changed my life.

“Through implementing systems suggested in Philip’s book, and working directly with his application, I began to gain control of my business.  It was like getting the steering wheel to a car that had none. Since then, things have changed in the kind of service we’re able to give, because of these systems.

“Here’s a quick story, one of many I could share with you now...

“We got an emergency water call for a condo in Nashville. Not long after we arrived, we realized there were TWO condos affected, side by side. My company would do the restoration on the one, and a competitor had the other. Both companies worked feverishly to get their water damage under control.

“After the first 24 hours, we went back to do the monitoring phase and found that the owners of the two condos are best friends. The owner of the condo my competitor worked on had come over and asked the other owner (‘our’ condo), ‘Who is your insurance company?’ Both had State Farm. But, she told our owner, ‘I didn’t get anything like you did, come over and see.’

“Both owners asked us how there could be such a difference in the two services. We were able to tell them that our franchise has systems—prompts that produce the same great results at every job. There was such a difference between the two, that it made an impression. The problem all owners face is, ‘How do I get the job done the way I would do it, if I was able to do every job?’

“I would pull out every stop to make a difference between my company and the competition, and I’ve found the answer to how to do that. It’s the same answer that companies like McDonald’s have found—Systems!!”

For me, that says it all!

Did I Mention? Great systems work!
